Role Summary

The Pharmacist Assistant Learner is responsible for assisting with the provision of medication and supplementary pharmacy services under the direct supervision of a registered Pharmacist. The learner will support patient care by ensuring medication is dispensed accurately, safely, and in compliance with pharmacy regulations and Netcare policies.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence โ€“ Stock Control

  • Participate in cyclical and full stock-take processes.
  • Assist with procurement and ethical stock control.
  • Process stock for internal departments and inter-clinic sales.
  • Manage designated stock areas in line with Netcare Stock Management policies.

Medication Dispensing & Patient Care

  • Assist the pharmacist in all aspects of dispensing medication.
  • Pick and package medicines under pharmacist supervision.
  • Capture dispensed items and prescriptions on the Unisolve system.
  • Maintain and update patient profiles accurately.
  • Assist with monthly chronic medicine recalls.
  • Follow up on outstanding medication timeously.

Administration & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with South African Pharmacy Council regulations.
  • Conduct housekeeping and pharmacy administrative tasks.
  • Perform duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacist.

Teamwork & Professional Development

  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Participate actively in professional development activities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Netcare policies and procedures.
  • Build effective stakeholder relationships and contribute to a positive work environment.
