Overview
Omnia is seeking a qualified and experienced Operator (Explosives Truck Driver) to join their team in Sishen. The primary purpose of this role is to load blast holes with explosive products using a mixer-placer truck in accordance with BME standards. The role involves operational, safety, and maintenance responsibilities and requires close adherence to SHERQ standards.
Key Responsibilities
-Ensure all SHERQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Risk & Quality) requirements are met before and during operations.
-Receive charging instructions from the Blaster and inspect all blast holes.
-Measure hole depths and report discrepancies or out-of-spec holes to the Blaster.
-Perform product mass calculations and inspect equipment and pump settings before charging.
-Test product density and quality prior to charging and ensure quality compliance.
-Engage in the pumping and loading process following design specifications.
-Collect and record product samples according to BME standards and client specifications.
-Complete administrative documentation including loading sheets and pre-use checklists.
-Perform truck maintenance, grease schedules, calibrations, and check truck performance.
-Supervise and guide the Truck Assistant during operations.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 / Matric with Mathematics
- Valid EC Driver’s Licence
- Dangerous Goods and Passengers Permit (DGP)
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ truck driving experience, preferably in a mining environment
- At least 5 years’ experience driving heavy-duty vehicles (EC)
