A petition to ban the R&B singer, citing his history of domestic violence, has surpassed 10,000 signatures, with anti-gender-based violence (GBV) activists urging the government to intervene. Women For Change, a prominent anti-GBV organization, spearheaded the petition, calling on the South African Ministry of Home Affairs to cancel the concert. Their spokesperson, Bulelwa Adonis, voiced disappointment with the backlash from South African women who downplayed the petition’s significance. She remarked, “The comments demonstrate the ambivalence our culture still views any matter pertaining to GBV.”
