Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Bakers Assistant to join our team in Norwood, Gauteng. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, baking, and finishing bakery products according to recipe specifications and food safety standards.

This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail bakery environment. The successful candidate must be multi-skilled and may be scheduled to perform more than one role during a working day.

Responsibilities

Prepare, bake, and finish bakery products according to approved recipes
Clean bakery equipment and utensils, and ensure proper hygiene standards are maintained
Follow the Pick n Pay Food Safety Standards Manual at all times
Maintain high housekeeping standards in all bakery areas
Report defective machinery or utensils to the Manager
Assist with general production duties
Serve customers in a professional and friendly manner
Prepare and record wastage for reporting purposes
Clean back-up and preparation areas
Carry out any reasonable duties assigned by management

Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric
Minimum of 1 year bakery experience (retail experience advantageous)
Willingness to work in a multi-skilled role
Ability to handle routine work accurately and efficiently
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Customer-focused approach
Good communication skills
Team player
Conscientious and able to follow procedures carefully
