Overview
Pick n Pay is offering a structured Trainee Manager Stores Programme designed to develop future retail leaders.
This opportunity provides hands-on exposure to all aspects of supermarket operations, including sales optimisation, stock control, financial management, customer engagement and team leadership.
The programme follows a defined career path with structured development toward Store Management.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (tertiary retail/business qualification advantageous)
- Valid Driverโs Licence
- Strong numerical and analytical ability
- Retail experience (advantageous)
- Passion for retail
- Willingness to be transferred between stores within the region

Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence
- Maintain hygiene, housekeeping and safe working standards
- Enforce store policies, SOPs and security procedures
- Maintain merchandise and display standards
- Conduct quality checks and ensure effective stock rotation (FIFO)
- Prevent shrinkage, wastage and damages
- Support daily store operations
Commercial & Financial Management
- Drive turnover and assist in achieving sales targets
- Monitor budgets and take corrective action
- Analyse departmental profitability
- Optimise fast-selling lines and stock levels
- Ensure effective ordering without overstocking
Administration & Compliance
- Complete administration accurately and timeously
- Maintain documentation and reports
- Identify and address discrepancies proactively
Customer Experience
- Deliver exceptional customer service
- Resolve queries professionally
- Build long-term customer loyalty
People Management
- Motivate and manage employees
- Monitor and develop team performance
- Address underperformance constructively
