Overview:

GMC Maruding Resources Proprietary Limited, a reputable company operating in the mining and fabrication industry, is seeking to recruit a highly experienced Plater-Welder / Fabrication Technician. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in heavy steel fabrication within a mining or industrial environment and possess the technical competence to handle complex fabrication and installation tasks.


Key Responsibilities:

-Carry out heavy steel fabrication and welding work in line with engineering drawings.

-Fabricate and install mining equipment such as silos, bins, chutes, crushers, mills, and screens.

-Ensure all welding and fabrication tasks comply with safety and quality standards.

-Interpret engineering drawings accurately for the execution of assigned work.

-Apply corrosion protection techniques during fabrication processes.

-Conduct basic risk assessments and develop appropriate risk mitigation strategies.

-Ensure compliance with HSE regulations and company safety protocols.

-Adhere to the MQWM Act (Botswana) and related industry standards.

-Collaborate with team members and supervisors to complete projects efficiently.


Requirements:

National Certificate in Fabrication Engineering

Class 1 Fabricator/Welder Trade Test Certificate

Certificate in Corrosion Protection

-Minimum of 10 years experience in heavy steel fabrication workshop environments

-Proven experience with mining-type equipment fabrication and installation

-Prior experience as a Boilermaker in the mining sector will be advantageous


Technical Competencies:

-Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings

-Strong knowledge of Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) regulations

-Thorough understanding of the Mines, Quarries, Works and Machinery (MQWM) Act

-Ability to conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies
