Overview

The Botswana Defence Force is recruiting a Principal Mechanical Engineer II to manage, coordinate, and lead mechanical engineering projects. The role involves developing engineering designs, overseeing mechanical systems in the BDF, and enhancing operational readiness through effective technical planning.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary Scale: D3 (P263,652 โ€“ P283,748 per annum)
  • Leave: 30 working days per annum
  • Benefits Include:
    • Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% of contributions)
    • Contributory Pension Scheme (Government pays 15%; employee pays 5%)
    • Housing and Upkeep Allowance of P309.00 per month
    • Scarce Skill Allowance of 30% of basic salary’

Key Responsibilities

-Conduct in-depth design analysis for mechanical systems.

-Prepare performance reports on proposed and developed structures/systems.

-Advise and recommend mechanical works that align with operational goals.

-Collaborate with stakeholders to develop strategic designs and technical solutions.

-Manage mechanical-related projects for efficiency and compliance.

-Align engineering strategies with performance management frameworks.

-Promote best practices in maintenance and operations of mechanical infrastructure.

-Participate in continuous performance improvement initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

-BSc in Mechanical Engineering / BMechEng or equivalent.

-Minimum of four (4) yearsโ€™ work experience, including at least two (2) years as a Senior Mechanical Engineer at D4 salary scale or equivalent in the private sector.

-Registration with the Engineers Registration Board and possession of a valid practising license.
