  • Grade 1: R324 384 โ€“ R382 107 per annum (OSD)
  • Grade 2: R396 132 โ€“ R466 623 per annum (OSD)

Overview

The Eastern Cape Department of Health invites qualified and registered Professional Nurses to apply for 111 short-term contract positions across seven district and metro health offices. Successful candidates will provide essential nursing care, uphold patient safety, and ensure compliance with clinical and ethical standards in line with Batho Pele Principles.


Requirements

Basic R425 qualification (Degree/Diploma) in Nursing or equivalent qualification allowing registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse.

Proof of current SANC registration.

Grade 1: No experience required.

Grade 2: Minimum 10 yearsโ€™ appropriate/recognisable experience in Nursing after registration.

Grade 3: Minimum 20 yearsโ€™ appropriate/recognisable experience in Nursing after registration.


Key Responsibilities

-Provide and maintain safe, therapeutic patient care aligned with nursing legislation.

-Execute nursing duties with proficiency and professionalism.

-Perform and monitor standard clinical procedures and therapeutic practices.

-Maintain and update patient records accurately.

-Uphold quality assurance by promoting innovation and continuous improvement in patient care.

-Apply a multidisciplinary approach to ensure holistic treatment.

-Adhere to the Batho Pele Principles and patient-rights charter.

-Manage and mentor junior nursing staff; evaluate performance through EPMDS standards.

-Participate in health promotion, patient safety, and infection-control programmes.

-Administer and manage scheduled medicines in accordance with legal prescriptions.

-Be willing to work day, night, weekends, and public holidays as required.
