Overview

Humana People to People Botswana (HPP Botswana), a registered Non-Governmental Organization established in 2001, is seeking a qualified and dedicated Project Coordinator to support forestry conservation and community-based natural resource management initiatives. The position is focused on the establishment and development of the Looloogane Tree Nursery and conservation activities in the Thotayamarula conservation area.

HPP Botswana aligns its work with Botswanaโ€™s National Vision 2036 and the United Nationsโ€™ Sustainable Development Goals, driving community-based solutions in health, education, food security, and environmental sustainability.


Key Responsibilities

-Facilitate the establishment and operationalisation of the Looloogane tree nursery.

-Promote forest and rangeland development through the production and distribution of tree seeds and seedlings.

-Conduct public awareness campaigns focused on conservation and sustainable management of forest and range resources.

-Develop and monitor strategies for plant resource conservation within the Thotayamarula Conservation Area.

-Conduct regular inventories of plant populations and their habitats and track ecological changes in the conservation zone.


Qualifications and Requirements

-Advanced/Higher Diploma in Forestry and Range Ecology.

-Minimum of 2 years of practical experience in tree seedling production, rangeland management, or environmental conservation.

-Experience in planning, coordinating, and managing conservation or reforestation projects is an added advantage.

-Strong ability to engage with local communities and trusts to ensure inclusive project implementation.

-Competence in compiling activity reports and monitoring project outcomes.

-Understanding of agroforestry and environmental conservation practices.

-Skills in conducting natural resource inventories and ecological monitoring.

-Effective stakeholder engagement across community and institutional levels.

-Strong communication, reporting, and presentation abilities.

-Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant project tools.
