Overview:
The Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) is seeking a results-driven and innovative Research and Development Executive โ Business Subjects to join its team. The incumbent will lead and conduct research into educational assessment tools, methods, and systems. This role is key to developing new or revised assessment instruments, enhancing syllabus design, and contributing to the improvement and credibility of the Councilโs assessment programmes across the business subject portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research to improve assessment instruments and practices.
- Explore and assess the introduction of new assessment types and technologies.
- Evaluate the impact and effectiveness of existing assessment programmes.
- Analyse assessment trends and produce cross-sectional performance reports.
- Support parental engagement and research related to assessment.
- Prepare research proposals and submit periodic progress reports.
- Supervise the gathering, analysis, and reporting of assessment data.
- Prepare statistical models and conduct detailed reporting on assessment outcomes.
- Produce briefing papers and design materials for use locally and internationally.
- Develop and maintain a reference database for research and analysis.
- Publish findings in academic journals and promote BEC as a centre of assessment excellence.
- Coordinate internal training summaries and capacity-building documents.
- Lead the review and development of syllabi for various business subjects.
- Oversee and review work of external assessment setters.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Masterโs Degree in Educational Management, Measurement, or Research (specialised in one subject as per BEC standards).
- Minimum 6 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years at professional level or equivalent.
- Supervisory experience is essential.
