Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is looking for a Retail Store Assistant to join its The Glen store. The successful candidate will assist in the overall management of the store, ensuring that both operational and administrative tasks are carried out according to company policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service by handling queries, compliments, and complaints professionally.
- Establish and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Manage point-of-sale operations, including refunds, returns, floats, and cash reconciliations.
- Handle stock management, including high-risk items, returns, deliveries, and invoices.
- Assist with Distribution Centre claims processing and documentation.
- Monitor customer turnover per hour to meet company benchmarks.
- Support the Receiving Manager in inventory and stock control.
- Ensure proper document control (petty cash, float, cash on hand).
- Maintain effective communication with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
Requirements & Skills
- Grade 12 / Matric (essential).
- Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook, SAP).
- Previous retail experience (essential).
- Strong knowledge of retail operations and administration.
- Leadership and management skills with a customer-first mindset.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
- Trustworthy, honest, and detail-oriented.
Additional Conditions
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Clear criminal and credit record (MIE checks will apply).
- Valid driverโs license and/or own reliable transport.
