Overview
Sasol, a global integrated chemicals and energy company with a 70-year heritage, is recruiting eight (8) Fire Fighters for positions ranging from Junior Fire Fighter to Leading Fire Fighter. These positions are based in Secunda and offer a challenging and rewarding opportunity within the Emergency Management division.
Successful candidates will play a crucial role in protecting Sasol’s people, property, and operations from fire and other SHERQ-related emergencies. Appointment levels will be determined in accordance with Sasol’s MSP Career Path and aligned to qualifications, experience, and competencies.
Key Responsibilities
-Apply best SHE practices during all emergency management tasks.
-Execute fire-fighting and emergency response duties as per standard instructions.
-Maintain physical and mental fitness to manage incidents effectively.
-Actively participate in emergency preparedness exercises and training.
-Respond to emergency situations within agreed timeframes.
-Support continuous improvement initiatives in emergency response activities.
-Contribute to safety enhancement efforts across the site.
-Work cooperatively with station leadership and other stakeholders.
-Comply with individual performance objectives (KPA) and development plans (PDP).
Minimum Requirements
–Grade 12 with Mathematical Literacy or equivalent
–Medically fit as per Fire Fighter Fitness Assessment Standards
–Fire Fighter 1 & 2 (NFPA 1001) – Essential
–Hazmat Awareness & Operations (NFPA 1072/472) – Essential
–Valid Code C1 Driver’s License – Highly Preferred
–HPCSA Registered BAA (BLS) – Advantageous
–HPCSA Registered ILS – Advantageous
Experience
- 0 to 5 years of relevant experience in fire fighting or emergency response.
- Final placement (Junior to Leading Fire Fighter) will be based on current qualifications and experience in line with Sasol’s MSP Career Guide.
