Overview
The Security Officer will provide physical security services to protect personnel, visitors, assets and property of the Department. The role includes access control, patrols, monitoring of assets, incident reporting and supporting occupational health and safety requirements.
Successful candidates must be willing to work shifts and abnormal working hours.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum Grade 10 / ABET Level 3
- Valid PSIRA Registration (Grade E, D, C)
- Knowledge of:
- Security legislation
- Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS)
- Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act 53 of 1985
- Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Risk management
- Firefighting and First Aid
- Basic literacy and communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Basic report writing skills
- Must be prepared to work abnormal hours and shifts

Key Responsibilities
- Perform access control and positive identification
- Patrol buildings, premises and land parcels
- Protect lives, property and assets
- Monitor movement of personnel and movable assets
- Escort visitors and suppliers
- Maintain effective record keeping
- Report security breaches and incidents
- Assist with evacuation drills
- Assist as Fire Marshal where required
- Support Occupational Health and Safety compliance
- Implement security policies and procedures
