Overview:
Econofoods, a trusted name in the frozen foods and FMCG sector, is hiring a Shop Assistant at their Somerset West branch. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about customer service, retail operations, and working in a dynamic, team-driven environment.
Purpose of the Role:
As an E40 Shop Assistant, you will be responsible for cashier functions, stock handling, merchandising, cleaning, and supporting customer service excellence on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and off-load incoming stock
- Perform cashier and point-of-sale duties
- Merchandise products in fridges, shelves, and across the store
- Maintain cleanliness and order in store areas
- Assist with stock counting and accurate reporting
- Provide friendly, helpful service to customers
- Uphold Econofoodsโ housekeeping and safety standards
- Work collaboratively with the team to meet daily store objectives
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Ability to communicate fluently in English (both written and spoken)
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Physically able to carry and move stock
- Self-motivated, reliable, and performance-driven
- Ability to work well in a team and take initiative
