Overview:

MMG-Khoemacau Copper Mining is looking for a detail-oriented and technically skilled Software Technician to join our Control and Instrumentation team. This role focuses on identifying and resolving plant control system faults and supporting the implementation of control system improvements to maximise plant availability and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

-Identify root causes of downtime and implement preventative measures.

-Ensure compliance with legal inspections and mine HSES procedures.

-Maintain and update control systems including software, hardware, and backups.

-Perform regular system updates, backups, and maintenance.

-Monitor system performance and support optimisation through adjustments.

-Apply engineering and safety protocols to system upgrades and testing.

-Support E&I maintenance teams and coordinate SCADA/PLC software needs.

-Keep accurate records of control system changes and design documentation.

Requirements and Skills:

-Diploma in Control and Instrumentation, Electrical, Industrial Automation, or Control Systems.

-Degree in any of the above-mentioned fields will be an added advantage.

-At least 5 years of experience as a Control Systems or Instrumentation Technician in a continuous plant operation.

-Proven experience with Profinet, Profibus networks, Rockwell and Siemens PLCs, Pi Historian, Citect SCADA 2018 R2, and AutoCAD.

-Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills in automation and control systems.

-Ability to manage system changes and comply with budgetary and operational standards.
