Introduction
The SPAR Group has opened applications for the 2026/27 National Certificate: Transport Operations (NQF Level 5) learnership at its North Rand Distribution Centre in Gauteng. This opportunity is aimed at unemployed young South Africans who are eager to gain practical experience and a recognised qualification within the transport and logistics sector.
This learnership is well suited to matriculants and entry-level candidates who are not currently studying and want to build a long-term career in transport coordination, fleet operations, and distribution logistics within a large national retail environment.
About the Learnership
Successful candidates will be placed at the SPAR North Rand Distribution Centre for a 12-month structured learnership combining:
- Formal learning towards a National Certificate: Transport Operations (NQF Level 5)
- Practical, on-the-job exposure in a real distribution and transport environment
A total of 20 learners will be appointed for the 2026/27 intake.
Key Learning Areas & Responsibilities
During the programme, learners will gain exposure to:
- Transport and distribution planning and coordination
- Understanding fleet operations, routing, and scheduling
- Supporting delivery processes and monitoring transport performance
- Learning compliance, safety, and regulatory requirements in transport operations
- Assisting with documentation, reporting, and operational controls
- Developing professional workplace skills, teamwork, and communication
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Unemployed at the time of application
- Not registered for or studying towards another qualification
- Aged between 18 and 34 years
- Able to commit to the full 12-month learnership period
Remuneration
- Market-related monthly stipend for the duration of the learnership
