Overview:
The Eastern Cape Department of Education invites suitable candidates to apply for 3 Teacher and Class Assistant positions at special schools. These roles are vital in supporting teachers in the classroom and ensuring that learners, particularly those with special needs, receive individualised attention and assistance in their educational development.

Key Responsibilities:

-Support classroom teachers with the delivery of lessons and learner activities

-Provide one-on-one assistance to learners, particularly those with special educational needs

-Help prepare classroom materials and manage learner resources

-Supervise learners during non-instructional periods (breaks, transitions, etc.)

-Assist in the implementation of classroom routines and behavior management strategies

-Promote a positive, inclusive, and learner-friendly environment

-Support learners with physical, emotional, or learning challenges

-Accompany learners during excursions or school events when required

-Collaborate with staff to ensure each learner receives holistic support

Requirements and Skills:

-Grade 12 or equivalent qualification

-Prior experience in Early Childhood Development, education support, or special needs education is an advantage

-Good interpersonal and communication skills

-Ability to work patiently with children with diverse needs

-Basic knowledge of child development and classroom practices

-Compassionate, responsible, and committed to learner well-being

-Willingness to support teaching staff and participate actively in learner development

-Preference will be given to candidates who reside near the schools and/or have a background in working with learners with barriers to learning
