Job Overview

Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine, a wholly owned subsidiary of Assore Limited, is inviting applications for a Permanent TMM Operator Assistant (B2) at its North Shaft operation. Situated in Limpopo (approximately 60 km from Lydenburg and 40 km from Burgersfort), the mine is a world-class producer of chrome ore with a strong focus on safety, skills development, and people-centred values.

The successful candidate will report to the Miner or nominee and will assist TMM, rig, bolter, and LHD operators to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant underground mining operations.

Minimum Educational Requirements

  • Grade 10 / Standard 8 certificate
  • Code 08 (B) Driverโ€™s Licence

Experience Requirements

  • Completion of a relevant, approved training programme
  • Minimum 3 months practical experience as a Drill Rig Operator, LHD Operator, or Roofbolter Operator within a mining environment

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist rig and roofbolter operators to perform tasks according to approved operating standards
  • Support machine setup, suspend trailing cables, and install pumps within active panels
  • Install lifter tubes on bottom holes during drilling operations
  • Assist during bolting operations, including barring, cable handling, and reporting breakdowns
  • Be fully conversant and licensed to operate TMM
  • Relieve the bolter, rig, or LHD operator when required
  • Operate roofbolters (e.g. Atlas, Sandvik, Boart) to meet production targets
  • Monitor machine performance and report deviations or non-conformance to the Supervisor
  • Conduct pre-shift inspections on machines and components
  • Apply lock-out procedures for faulty equipment and at end of shift
  • Perform minor maintenance, including greasing and replacing consumables
  • Ensure proper care and operation of machinery in line with manufacturer specifications and SOPs

  • Full compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (29 of 1996)
  • Appointment subject to being medically fit
  • Selection aligned with the Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine Recruitment Operating Procedure, Employment Equity Plan, and Mining Charter objectives
