Overview
The Department of Employment and Labour is offering 130 Trainee Employment Counsellor opportunities across all nine provinces. This programme is aimed at psychology and industrial psychology graduates who wish to gain practical experience in career counselling, labour market services, and employment facilitation while contributing to South Africaโs workforce development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support services to Employment Counsellors.
- Conduct research on labour market needs and apply employment counselling best practices.
- Work under supervision of a Career Counsellor and Employment Services Practitioner.
- Assist in recruitment and selection services implementation.
- Network with stakeholders to verify service quality.
- Support registration and placement of work-seekers.
Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology or Industrial Psychology.
- An Honours degree in Psychology or Industrial Psychology will be an added advantage.
- Preference will be given to candidates registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as either:
- Registered Counsellor (Independent Practice) OR
- Psychometrist (Independent Practice).
