The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with data protection legislation and overseeing the organization\u2019s data privacy framework. This role reports directly to the General Manager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Key Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Monitor compliance with data protection regulations through internal audits and policy reviews<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advise the organization and its employees on data protection obligations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide guidance on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and ensure remedial actions are taken<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain and implement data protection policies and systems to ensure ongoing legal compliance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Act as the contact point for data subjects and regulatory bodies such as BOCRA<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manage the Data Security Incident Response Plan to handle data breaches<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Draft and maintain data protection notices, consent forms, and related documents<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Train employees on data protection awareness and compliance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist with legal and regulatory compliance across the organization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitor privacy and data protection developments to maintain compliance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conduct awareness sessions and support audits and investigations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Experience and Qualifications:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree in Law<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At least 5 years post-qualification legal experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minimum 3 years of experience in data protection compliance or a related field<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Deep understanding of GDPR and relevant data protection laws<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Valid certificate of practice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience in legal, audit, or risk management roles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Preferred Skills and Competencies:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities focused on risk and compliance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information under pressure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent understanding of data protection legislation and regulatory frameworks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong written and verbal communication skills for interaction with internal and external stakeholders<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Self-motivated and proactive in driving compliance and governance initiatives<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">APPLICATION PROCESS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/zentrofly.com\/bwjobs\/apply-for-botswana-railways-data-protection-officer-external-advert\/\">APPLY HERE<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Job Title: Data Protection Officer (External Advert) Location: Botswana Railways Headquarters, Mahalapye, BotswanaClosing Date: 23 May 2025 Overview: Botswana Railways is inviting applications from experienced legal professionals for the position of Data Protection Officer (DPO).
