Overview:<\/strong>
The Eastern Cape Department of Education invites applications for 30 General Assistant positions. These roles provide essential support in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient school environment. General Assistants are vital to the day-to-day operations of schools and learner support, especially in special needs education settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Assist with the cleaning and maintenance of school buildings, classrooms, and grounds<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Support learners with special needs (mobility, feeding, toileting) under the guidance of educators<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Handle laundry duties, especially in hostel environments<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Ensure tools and equipment are cleaned, used safely, and stored properly<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Maintain sanitary and hygienic conditions across all facilities<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Assist with preparing classrooms and activity spaces for school functions<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Participate in the implementation of learner care and safety procedures<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Perform messenger or delivery duties as required by the school<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Requirements and Skills:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Grade 9 or equivalent school leaving certificate<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Previous experience in cleaning, maintenance, or learner support roles will be advantageous<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Must be physically fit and able to assist with lifting and moving items<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Compassionate and patient, particularly when working with learners with special needs<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Basic knowledge of health, hygiene, and safety protocols<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and discipline<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Proof of participation in PEYI programme will be considered an advantage<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Preference will be given to candidates residing in the area where the post is located<\/p>\n\n\n\n
