Overview<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Unitrans Botswana is establishing a Talent Pool<\/strong> for highly skilled and experienced Extra-Heavy Motor Vehicle Drivers (Articulated).<\/strong> This is not an immediate vacancy but an opportunity for pre-qualified candidates to be considered for future openings. Shortlisted candidates will undergo a rigorous selection process<\/strong>, including interviews, competency assessments, and practical evaluations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

-Prepare the vehicle for trips and operate ultra-heavy-duty trucks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Load, transport, and offload cargo safely and efficiently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Complete required trip documentation accurately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Follow instructions from the Supervisor and comply with operational requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Maintain a safe driving record<\/strong> and uphold a clean criminal record<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Ensure vehicle cleanliness, uniform compliance, and adherence to PPE standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Follow SOPs<\/strong> and safety regulations, ensuring vehicle compliance with the Botswana Road Traffic Act<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Oversee or operate offloading equipment for deliveries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Secure loads properly before departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Open and close tarpaulins where applicable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Maintain a professional and efficient<\/strong> relationship with customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minimum Requirements (Botswana Standards)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

–Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) or equivalent.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

–Valid Class EC Driver\u2019s License with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP \u2013 Goods).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

–Minimum three (3) years of experience operating extra-heavy articulated vehicles.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

–Must be 25 years of age or older.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

–Must have a valid Defensive Driving Certificate (DDC) from a recognized institution.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

–Experience in vehicle inspections and reporting procedures for defects and emergencies.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

–Knowledge of the Botswana Road Traffic Act and transport regulations.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

–Ability to conduct vehicle pre-trip inspections and operate a fire extinguisher.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

–Experience in load securing, offloading procedures, and handling hazardous materials (if applicable).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

–Must be willing to work irregular hours, weekends, and public holidays.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional Selection Criteria<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Candidates must successfully complete:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

–Medical evaluation (as per Botswana Occupational Health Standards).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

–USCS training modules.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

–Company-specific induction process.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

–Practical driving evaluation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

–Verification of a clean criminal record (Botswana Police Clearance).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
