Overview<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Judiciary of Lesotho is seeking four qualified and dedicated individuals to serve as Recorders<\/strong> at the Southern Division of the High Court in Mohale\u2019s Hoek. Reporting to the Assistant Registrar, successful candidates will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate recording and transcription of court proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

1. Recording Court Proceedings<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

-Monitor and operate recording machines to ensure proper functionality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Mark tapes to accurately identify speakers and track statements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Maintain a high level of accuracy during all recordings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Take clear notes to assist with identifying different court participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Transcribing Court Proceedings<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

-Produce written transcriptions from recorded audio accurately and efficiently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Ensure all records are properly stored for easy retrieval and future reference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Requirements and Skills<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Minimum Qualifications<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

-Diploma in Office Administration and Management or Secretarial Studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Typing speed of at least 45 words per minute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Proficiency in both official languages of Lesotho.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knowledge and Skills<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

-Basic knowledge of law and court procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Strong interpersonal and communication skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Excellent typing and transcription skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Ability to manage recording equipment and digital tapes effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional Attributes<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

-High attention to detail and accuracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Willingness to work under mental pressure and strain from extended use of earphones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Responsible for any errors that may occur in execution of duties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supervision and Responsibility<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

-Supervision: Reports to the Assistant Registrar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Responsibility: Minimal authority for decision-making but full accountability for the correctness of transcriptions and recordings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Tools: Responsible for care and management of all recording machines and related equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
