The role supports maintenance and repair of water and sewer networks, general handy work, safe plant\/tool operation, and housekeeping of work sites to ensure reliable service delivery to residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Responsibilities<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>-Assist with maintenance, repair, and new works on water and sewer reticulation networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Excavate using pick, shovel, and other hand tools; prepare pipe-beds; backfill and compact trenches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Enter sewer pump stations (when required) to remove rags\/foreign objects and perform cleaning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Operate and care for mechanical equipment, tools, and small plant safely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Clean and restore work areas, ablution facilities, and offices after tasks are completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Adhere to OHS standards, by-laws, policies, and procedures; use PPE correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Support compliance reporting and follow instructions from supervisors and artisans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Requirements &amp; Skills<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Grade 10 (minimum).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Physically able to perform manual labour (digging, lifting, bending, entering confined spaces where applicable).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At least 1 year\u2019s experience in a similar environment (water\/sanitation\/municipal maintenance).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Basic tool handling and safety awareness; willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teamwork, reliability, and the ability to follow directions and safety protocols.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-737975255b4cd0a3cd356c0c34fb9592\" style=\"color:#ff0000\"><strong>How To Apply:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-outline is-style-outline--1\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-base-3-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/zentrofly.com\/jobs\/apply-for-general-assistant-blockages-clean-up-teams-city-of-ekurhuleni-water-sanitation-apply-by-26-september-2025\/\" style=\"background-color:#ff0000\">APPLY HERE<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Remuneration &amp; Benefits<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Salary:<\/strong> R171,972 \u2013 R235,896 per annum <strong>(plus benefits)<\/strong> in line with municipal policy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Employment Equity<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The City of Ekurhuleni is an equal opportunity employer.
