Overview<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) \u2013 Tropical & Subtropical Crops (ARC-TSC) seeks three reliable and hands-on Casual Workers<\/strong> to support field and farm activities at its Hluhluwe research site. Successful candidates will assist with planting, crop care, harvesting, and general farm practices that enable high-quality research trials and productive field operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key Responsibilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

-Plant seeds and seedlings; harvest fruits and vegetables according to seasonal plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Perform irrigation, fertilizer application, and weed, pest, and disease control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Sample plants for evaluation and assist with routine field data support where required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Protect field trials from animal interference (fencing checks, deterrents, reporting).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Safely use, clean, and store tools and equipment; report faults promptly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Follow Occupational Health & Safety instructions and wear appropriate PPE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Carry out other farm practices as directed by the Supervisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entry Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

-Minimum Grade 10<\/strong> with an understanding of basic agricultural practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Basic knowledge of manual operation of farm equipment and small machinery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Good communication skills (verbal and written).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Working knowledge of health and safety procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Willingness to work outdoors and under adverse weather conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
