Apprentices train under qualified artisans across Transnet\u2019s operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Available Apprenticeship Trades &amp; Sites<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Apprentice: Millwright<\/strong> \u2013 Durban, Koedoespoort, Salt River<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Apprentice: Mechanical Fitter<\/strong> \u2013 Salt River<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Apprentice: Diesel Mechanic<\/strong> \u2013 Durban<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Apprentice: Welder<\/strong> \u2013 Durban, Germiston, Koedoespoort, Salt River<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Apprentice: Electrician<\/strong> \u2013 Bloemfontein, Durban, Koedoespoort, Salt River, North End, Cambridge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Responsibilities (Position Outputs)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>-Prepare work areas, tools, materials and consumables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Correctly use <strong>hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Install, assemble, fit and connect <strong>trade-specific equipment &amp; control systems<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Test, inspect, commission and maintain <strong>electrical\/mechanical\/welding<\/strong> systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Diagnose faults and <strong>repair installations and assemblies<\/strong> to standard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Comply with <strong>Health, Safety, Quality<\/strong> procedures and housekeeping at all times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Minimum Qualifications &amp; Entry Criteria<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants must hold <strong>one<\/strong> of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;<strong>N2 Certificate<\/strong> with relevant trade theory subjects; <strong>or<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;<strong>N3 Certificate<\/strong> (e.g., Industrial Electronics, Mathematics (Pure), Engineering Science, Electro-technology, Engineering Drawing, Fitting &amp; Machining); <strong>or<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;<strong>NCV Level 4<\/strong> with Mathematics (Pure), English, Life Orientation and trade-related vocational subjects; <strong>or<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;<strong>Technical Grade 12<\/strong> with Mathematics (Pure), Physical Science, Engineering Graphics and trade-specific technical subjects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional requirement:<\/strong> <strong>Age 18\u201335<\/strong> at time of application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Competencies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Problem-solving, logical reasoning and fault-finding.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Good communication and teamwork; ability to follow instruction.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Safety consciousness, attention to detail and willingness to learn.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Employment Equity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Transnet is committed to <strong>Employment Equity<\/strong>.
