Robben Island Museum (RIM)<\/strong> is inviting applications for 2 Switchboard Operator positions<\/strong> in the Visitor Operations Department. These are 6-month contract positions<\/strong> reporting to the Information Supervisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minimum Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Applicants should have:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

–Matric \/ Grade 12<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Minimum 2 years’ switchboard or telephone reception experience<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Computer literacy<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Fluency in 2 official languages<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Strong verbal and written communication skills<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Good active listening and interpersonal communication skills<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Customer service orientation<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Attention to detail<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Problem-solving ability<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Professional and polite telephone etiquette<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Higher Certificate in Tourism, Public Relations or Marketing<\/strong> will be an added advantage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key Responsibilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The successful candidates will be responsible for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Channelling incoming calls to the appropriate employees or departments<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Taking messages and emailing them to the relevant employees<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Providing callers with basic information about Robben Island Museum<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Reporting faulty telephone or switchboard equipment<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Providing information and updating the online staff directory<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Consolidating staff telephone usage into spreadsheets for managers<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Analysing PIN code usage and reporting discrepancies<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Creating speed dials for managers<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Receiving and distributing post<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Receiving, registering and distributing faxes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Directing visitors to the relevant offices<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Monitoring telephone usage<\/p>\n\n\n\n
