Position Overview

PIH Lesotho is seeking a qualified Radiologist to interpret diagnostic images, perform ultrasounds, and build capacity among local clinicians. The Radiologist will work closely with Ministry of Health (MOH) and PIH teams to enhance the quality of diagnostic imaging services, particularly in rural and MDR TB facilities, and report directly to the Chief Medical Officer.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret chest X-rays, CT scans, and MRI images from PIH-supported rural health centers and hospitals.
  • Perform and interpret Point of Care Ultrasounds (POCUS) for diagnosis and patient monitoring.
  • Provide remote ultrasound reviews and feedback to frontline clinicians.
  • Support MOH hospitals with image interpretation upon request.
  • Mentor and train PIH Lesotho physicians and nurses in basic X-ray interpretation.
  • Advise on procurement of new imaging technologies and assist in improving radiology services.
  • Contribute to development or revision of clinical protocols, guidelines, and SOPs related to radiology.
  • Provide training on ultrasound-guided procedures such as central line insertion, abscess drainage, and biopsies.
  • Support the planning of a radiology training pathway for local doctors during or post-internship.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Medical Doctor with a specialization in Radiology and Sonography
  • Minimum 3 years of experience, preferably in global health settings
  • Experience using telemedicine platforms
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to prioritize emergency cases
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across clinical and non-clinical teams
  • Ability to work independently in high-pressure environments
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet-based tools
  • Excellent interpersonal and mentoring skills
  • Strong commitment to social justice, equity in healthcare, and PIH’s mission
  • Willingness to reside full-time in Lesotho
