Overview:
The Basotho Enterprises Development Corporation (BEDCO) invites applications for the position of Health and Safety Consultant as part of its Business Development Service Providers (BDSPs) initiative. The successful consultant will support entrepreneurs and SMEs in maintaining safe working environments, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, and promoting wellness in the workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise SMEs on occupational health and safety standards and legislation
- Conduct workplace risk assessments and develop safety management plans
- Assist businesses in implementing health and safety policies and procedures
- Deliver health and safety training sessions for staff and management
- Monitor and report on safety compliance, including emergency preparedness
- Recommend improvements to ensure safe working conditions and prevent workplace injuries
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field
- Certification in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, SAMTRAC, NOSA) will be an advantage
- Minimum of 3 years’ practical experience in a health and safety advisory or consultancy role
- Deep understanding of Lesotho’s health and safety legal framework
- Strong analytical, communication, and training facilitation skills
- Ability to develop customized safety solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises
