Position Purpose:

The Art Teacher will be responsible for developing and delivering a creative and inspiring visual arts program for students across multiple grade levels. This role promotes both technical art skills and personal expression while contributing to the broader school culture through art exhibitions, extracurricular activities, and collaborative initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development & Instruction

-Design and implement engaging, age-appropriate art lessons for Preschool through Grade 8

-Teach a wide range of art techniques and styles including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, digital art, and mixed media

-Encourage creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression in students

-Differentiate instruction to meet varied learning needs and artistic abilities

Assessment & Feedback

-Assess student artwork and maintain progress records

-Provide constructive feedback and detailed reporting through term report cards and parent-teacher conferences

-Maintain consistent and open communication with parents

Classroom Management & Environment

-Foster a safe, inclusive, and well-organized art classroom

-Ensure proper use, storage, and care of art supplies and equipment

-Promote positive behavior and respectful student interactions

Professional Development & Collaboration

-Stay current with best practices in art education and integrate new approaches

-Collaborate with colleagues on cross-curricular and school-wide projects

-Engage in professional development and reflective teaching practices

-Work alongside support staff to ensure inclusive learning

School Community Engagement

-Contribute to school events, meetings, and committees

-Support and uphold the school’s mission, values, and holistic education approach

Art Exhibitions & Events

-Organize student exhibitions and art displays for school performances and events

-Lead visual contributions to school-wide initiatives and community outreach

Extracurricular Activities & Enrichment

-Offer after-school art clubs, workshops, or special projects

-Promote student participation in local and international art competitions

-Encourage exploration of various artistic media


Preferred Qualifications & Requirements:

-Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or related field (or equivalent)

-Demonstrated experience teaching art to children from Preschool to Grade 8

-Solid understanding of both traditional and contemporary art forms

-Skilled in managing art supplies and classroom materials

-Experience organizing school art events or exhibitions

-Familiarity with digital art tools and classroom technology integration is an advantage
