SALARY RANGE: Basic Salary: R220,458 – R284,000

Position: Constable/Traffic Officer (1, 2, 3)
Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Valid Code B Driver’s License with driving capability
- Motorcycle License preferred; if not possessed, candidate must obtain within 18 months of hire
- Registration as a Traffic Officer with possession of a National Department of Transport Basic Traffic Officer Qualification (RTMC)
- Compliance with all prerequisites for appointment as a Municipal Police member per Regulation 11 of the Regulations for Municipal Police Services
- Proficiency in computer skills
- Completion of a First Aid Course
- Minimum of one year relevant work experience
- Clean criminal record
- Physical fitness and commitment to maintaining fitness levels
- Willingness to work rotating 24-hour shifts, carry a firearm, and maintain firearm competency
Key Responsibilities:
- Enforcement of Traffic Regulations and By-Laws
- Contributing to the reduction of traffic congestion
- Crime prevention through enforcement of relevant legislation
- Execution of specialized duties assigned by Metro Police/Traffic Services units to meet service demands
- Establishing and maintaining effective stakeholder relations through public and key stakeholder liaison
- Ensuring accurate completion of administrative tasks related to statutory documentation, registers, and statistics
- Conducting training for existing staff and potential recruits at designated facilities
- Managing the implementation of technology within the department
