Job Title: Apprentice – Technical Trade Training

Responsibilities:

As an Apprentice in our Technical Trade Training program, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Attend theoretical classes at an accredited provider to gain a solid understanding of the designated trade.
  • Participate in on-site plant training to acquire practical skills and hands-on experience.
  • Complete the curriculum for the designated trade according to the schedule prescribed by the Chemical Industries Education and Training Authority (CHIETA).

Requirements:

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum of Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science (Maths Literacy NOT accepted).
  • Technical trade-related subjects would be advantageous.
  • N3 Certificate with relevant subjects including Mathematics, Engineering Science, Trade Theory, and a fourth subject as required by the specific trade.
  • Technical trade theory program quality assured by a SETA (Sector Education and Training Authority) deemed to be equivalent to NQF level 3.
  • A relevant Engineering NCV Certificate with seven subjects at NQF level.

In addition to meeting the educational requirements, the successful candidate should possess the following skills and competencies:

  • Medically fit for the demands of the job.
  • Age 18 years and over.
  • Ideally suited for individuals without dependents.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to adhere to academic guidelines and follow instructions.
  • Willingness to conform to rigid standards of performance.
  • High energy levels and self-motivation.
  • Ability to produce work of high quality.
  • High levels of concentration and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work accurately and carefully, especially in a technical environment.
  • Willingness to stay up-to-date with advances in techniques and equipment related to the trade.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with a team.
