We are seeking a Facilities Assistant to join our team at the Isando Plant Snacks division. The ideal candidate will assist with the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with safety regulations.


Key Responsibilities

General Maintenance:

-Perform routine maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, fixing leaks, and lubricating equipment

-Inspect buildings and equipment for any damage or potential issues

Repairs:

-Repair or replace broken items such as doors, windows, locks, and plumbing

-Perform basic electrical repairs and fix leaks or clogs in plumbing

Installation:

-Install new appliances, fixtures, and equipment

-Securely hang shelves, pictures, mirrors, and other items

Carpentry:

-Conduct basic carpentry work, including repairing furniture and wooden structures

Painting:

-Paint walls, ceilings, and surfaces as needed, and install wallpaper or coverings

Cleaning and Caretaking:

-Maintain outdoor areas, such as gardens and utility buildings

Emergency Repairs:

-Respond promptly to urgent repair needs, such as fixing burst pipes or securing premises

Safety and Compliance:

-Ensure all work meets safety regulations and standards

-Identify potential hazards and address them appropriately

Problem-Solving:

-Diagnose issues accurately and implement effective solutions

Tools and Equipment Management:

-Maintain tools and equipment in good working order

-Safely use and store hazardous materials according to safety guidelines

Documentation:

-Keep records of maintenance tasks and report on completed work or outstanding issues


Requirements

-Grade 12 (Matric)

-N3 qualification in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering

-Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in an FMCG environment

-Proficient in MS Office and maintenance software such as SAP, On Key, or JD Edwards

Technical Skills:

-Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment repair

-Familiarity with diagnosing equipment malfunctions and safety protocols

Behavioral Skills:

-Self-motivated with innovative technical abilities

-Strong analytical skills for resolving breakdowns with long-term solutions

-Ability to work extended hours, including physical tasks when necessary

-Team player with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
