Overview

Phakisa Holdings (Pty) Ltd is seeking a qualified and safety-conscious Reach Truck Driver to join our team in Benoni on a temporary, full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a reach truck to efficiently move, stack, and organize materials within our warehouse. This role requires a strong commitment to safety and proficiency in reach truck operations.

Responsibilities

-Safely operate a reach truck to load, unload, and move materials within the warehouse.

-Conduct daily inspections and maintenance of the reach truck to ensure it remains in optimal working condition.

-Use the reach truck to place and retrieve items from high shelves or racks.

-Organize and store goods in designated areas according to company procedures.

-Verify the accuracy of incoming shipments and ensure proper storage.

-Prepare and pack materials for shipment, ensuring correct handling and packaging.

Inventory Management:

  • Assist with inventory counts and maintain accurate records as needed.
  • Report any discrepancies or issues with inventory levels to the supervisor.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow company policies and procedures for safe material handling and equipment operation.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents and ensure efficient operations.

Communication:

  • Collaborate with warehouse staff and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow and address operational issues.
  • Provide feedback on equipment performance and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency.

Requirements

  • Proven experience operating reach trucks or similar material handling equipment.
  • A valid reach truck operator certification/license (if required by local regulations).
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on reach trucks.
  • Familiarity with warehouse operations and inventory management systems.
  • Basic math and computer skills for inventory tracking and reporting.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects and operate equipment for extended periods.
  • Grade 12/Matric.
  • Valid license and certification.
  • 3-4 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
