Job Title: Postal Clerk

Reports To: Retail Clerk/Mail Clerk


Job Purpose:

To assist the Mail/Retail Clerk in tasks related to customer service, mail handling, cash handling, and mail processing, ensuring efficient postal operations and excellent service delivery.


Main Duties:

  1. Revenue Collection:
    • Sell postal products and services to the public.
    • Collect revenue for private bag and box rentals, COD services, and other newly introduced retail services.
  2. Transaction Processing and Balancing:
    • Issue ordinary and telegraphic money orders based on customer requirements.
    • Cash money orders upon production of valid identity documents.
    • Record daily transactions for retail services in the cash book.
    • Balance books of accounts for retail services.
  3. Mail Acceptance and Delivery:
    • Accept incoming mail, registered items, and parcels from customers.
    • Deliver outgoing mail items at the counter to customers.
  4. Mail Circulation Duties:
    • Perform duties related to the circulation of mail, ensuring smooth operations.

Knowledge and Skills:

Qualifications:

-Certificate in Business Studies or Management.

-A minimum of three years of working experience in a related role.

Skills:

  • Computer proficiency.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.

-Approachable and proactive demeanor.

-Strong customer service orientation.

-Excellent interpersonal skills.

-Self-motivated with strong interaction capabilities.
