Heavy Vehicle Driver (EMS) – Hay Band A2

Overview
Rand Water is seeking a qualified and experienced Heavy Vehicle Driver to join the Bulk Water Services – Operations team at Zuikerbosch. This permanent position requires an individual who is committed to ensuring the safe operation, maintenance, and use of agricultural and horticultural equipment, as well as road and plant vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
-Ensure goods are correctly balanced and securely loaded.
-Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy and not overloaded.
-Verify and secure loads using tie-downs and lifting equipment.
-Report vehicle defects, maintain cleanliness, and fill out logbooks.
-Perform tree-felling tasks and operate cranes, slings, and other equipment as needed.
-Relieve other drivers and assist with additional driving duties within EMS.
-Ensure the safe transportation of crew, vehicle, and load.
-Dispose of materials at authorized dumping sites while complying with regulations.
Minimum Requirements
-Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate).
-Valid EC driver’s license and ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 driving test.
-Possession of a valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
-Minimum of 2 years of driving experience.
-Experience operating back-actor machinery (advantageous).
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge
- Safe working procedures and job planning.
- Understanding of road maps and navigation.
Skills
- Expertise in balancing and positioning materials loaded.
- Operation of truck-mounted cranes and tipper trucks.
