Overview:
Rand Water is seeking a dedicated Workshop Assistant to support the Artisan team. The successful candidate will assist in metal cutting for flanges, lugs, brackets, and wedges, and participate in scheduled inspections of lifting equipment and cranes. The role also involves maintaining cleanliness in the workshop, waste areas, and ablution facilities.
Responsibilities:
-Assist the Artisan in metal cutting using the Profile Machine.
-Perform mandatory service and safety inspections of lifting equipment, ladders, and cranes.
-Support the spare team in cleaning and wrapping pipelines.
-Load and unload tools and equipment.
-Erect scaffolding as needed.
-Maintain good housekeeping standards.
-Ensure safety awareness and compliance.
Requirements:
-Grade 12 certificate.
-Valid driver’s license.
-Minimum of 2 years of experience in a fitting workshop with some supervisory experience.
-Ability to work in confined spaces and check lifting equipment.
-Basic knowledge of Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) practices.
Skills:
-Proficiency in using and operating the Profile Machine, overhead crane, and basic fitting tools.
