Overview
A leading retail company is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Country Group Manager to oversee operations in Botswana, Namibia, and Zambia. This executive-level role demands strategic leadership, operational expertise, and a results-driven mindset to drive sustainable growth and regional success.
The Country Group Manager will act as the primary liaison between the head office in South Africa and regional operations, ensuring the efficient management of over 30 stores in Botswana and 42 stores across Namibia and Zambia.
Objectives of the Role
-Lead the expansion and profitability of the retail network across Botswana, Namibia, and Zambia.
-Ensure seamless communication between the head office and regional teams.
-Build and develop high-performing teams aligned with business objectives.
-Translate strategic goals into actionable plans to grow market share.
-Strengthen the company’s position as a leader in the regional retail market.
-Oversee project management, including store openings, budget creation, and financial monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
-Directly manage and oversee 30+ stores in Botswana and supervise operations in 6 stores in Zambia and 36 stores in Namibia.
-Implement board directives effectively across all regions.
-Plan and execute new store openings as part of the company’s growth strategy.
-Monitor market trends to adapt strategies and maximize business opportunities.
-Train, mentor, and support store managers and their teams to enhance performance.
-Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, and regional regulations.
-Drive sales growth, optimize costs, and maintain profitability across all stores.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proven senior retail management experience, preferably across multiple countries.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with an emphasis on mentorship.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to execute large-scale growth initiatives.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel and manage operations across four countries.
- Educational Qualification: Relevant degree in Business Administration or Retail Management.
- Experience: Minimum of 15 years of traceable experience in the retail field.
Preferred Skills
- Expertise in budgeting, finance, marketing, and research.
- Experience in the clothing or fashion retail industry.
- Fluency in multiple Southern African languages (advantageous).
- Strong analytical skills and knowledge of regional market dynamics.
