Overview

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is looking for a committed and diligent individual to join their team as a Cleaner. This role is vital in maintaining a clean, sanitary, and well-organized work environment for SAPS personnel. The successful candidate will perform various cleaning tasks to ensure the premises are safe and hygienic, both indoors and outdoors. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the efficient operation of one of South Africa’s key institutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of SAPS premises, including offices, restrooms, kitchens, and common areas.
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks such as dusting, sweeping, mopping, and emptying waste bins.
  • Sanitize and disinfect high-touch areas to prevent the spread of germs.
  • Ensure bathrooms are stocked with necessary supplies, such as soap and toilet paper.
  • Clean and maintain kitchen areas, including utensils and appliances.
  • Safeguard and store cleaning materials and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Report any necessary repairs or maintenance to management promptly.
  • Assist with cleaning and upkeep of other areas as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • A Grade 10 qualification is an advantage.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions effectively.
  • Experience handling and operating basic cleaning equipment.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, when necessary.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.

  • Physical stamina to handle repetitive tasks.
  • Good time management to ensure tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic.
