Introduction

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is seeking 43 qualified and dedicated individuals to join the Security Services section at the SAPS Head Office in Pretoria. The successful candidates will be responsible for executing various security functions in line with the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act. This is an opportunity for reliable and committed individuals to contribute to the safety and security of SAPS premises.

Minimum Requirements

  • Competence in post-specific security functions.
  • Fluency in at least two official languages, including English.
  • South African citizenship.
  • No prior criminal or departmental convictions or pending cases.
  • Successful completion of a vetting process, including security screening and fingerprint verification.
  • Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or National Certificate (Vocational) on NQF Level 4.
  • Registered with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) and possession of a minimum Grade C security certificate.
  • Must not be declared unfit to possess a firearm, with a willingness to undergo and maintain firearm competency training.
  • A degree or diploma in security is advantageous.
  • Completion of relevant security courses and possession of a valid light motor vehicle driver’s license are also beneficial.
  • Willingness to work shifts and extended hours as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Access Control: Ensure compliance with the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act, including managing access points.
  • Identification Checks: Positively identify employees, visitors, and contractors at access points.
  • Registration and Searches: Register and, where necessary, conduct electronic searches of employees, visitors, and contractors.
  • Entry Authorization: Authorize entry to premises, confirm visits, and ensure escorts as per legislative requirements.
  • Admission Control: Issue and retrieve admission control cards for visitors and maintain visitor registers.
  • Inspections: Conduct inspections of suppliers, articles, and objects to ensure safety.
  • Patrolling: Patrol buildings and secured areas, safeguarding vehicles and equipment.
  • Security Equipment: Monitor and report any issues with security equipment and facilities to senior security personnel.
