Overview

SolidarMed, a leading non-profit organization, is dedicated to improving healthcare for over 2.5 million people in Lesotho, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Partnering with national stakeholders, we aim to strengthen health systems and community capacities through evidence-based approaches and collaborative research.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented VICONEL Data Assistant to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timely management of the VICONEL database. This position plays a critical role in supporting the VICONEL project by facilitating high-quality data collection and management in collaboration with laboratory staff, health facilities, and the data management team.


Responsibilities

-Work with laboratory staff to ensure timely import of laboratory data into the VICONEL database.

-Confirm successful data transfers and promptly report delays or discrepancies to supervisors.

-Conduct cross-checks for viral load requests and ensure accurate data entry for additional records as needed.

-Verify the completeness of patient records and liaise with health facilities to resolve incomplete data.

-Run data integrity checks using scripts and troubleshoot identified discrepancies.

-Regularly compile and report data inconsistencies and collaborate on solutions to improve data quality.

-Assist in monthly database metrics compilation and support data audits.

-Ensure adherence to confidentiality and data protection principles in line with organizational policies.

-Train staff on data entry protocols and support troubleshooting for REDCap and related tools.

-Document recurring issues and contribute to developing sustainable data quality processes.


Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Public Health, Statistics).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in data management, preferably in healthcare or research settings.

Skills and Competencies:

-Proficiency in database management and data entry.

-IT skills, including Microsoft Office, with a willingness to learn new software tools.

-Experience with data quality control procedures.

-Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.

-Excellent communication skills in English and Sesotho, with the ability to convey findings clearly.

-A positive outlook, self-motivation, and the ability to work under pressure.

Added Advantages:

  • Experience with STATA, R, or REDCap.
  • HIV research experience.
  • Proven experience in data collection, capturing, verification, and validation in a research context.
  • Familiarity with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory compliance.
