Overview

PG Building Glass (PGBG), a division of the PG Group and Southern Africa’s leading distributor of float, mirror, and PG SmartGlass® products, is seeking a dependable Truck Assistant to join its Gqeberha operations. This role focuses on supporting drivers in the safe loading, offloading, and delivery of glass products, while ensuring compliance with company safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist driver with safe loading and offloading of glass products.
  • Identify the most suitable loading/unloading positions.
  • Complete quality check sheets during loading.
  • Double-check that all loads are restrained and secure throughout trips.
  • Support drivers when reversing or manoeuvring in confined or unseen spaces.
  • Report any property damage during operations.
  • Assist with paperwork control and documentation.
  • Adhere to company safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards.
  • Carry out any additional tasks requested by the factory supervisor.
  • Work overtime and weekends when operationally required.

Requirements & Skills

  • Grade 12 (Matric) required.
  • Valid Code 10 or higher driver’s licence with PrDP advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (customer-facing role).
  • High energy and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and complete daily tasks without delay.
  • Mobile and able to travel to work.
  • Analytical and numerical skills.

Experience Advantageous:

  • Handling and moving dangerous goods.
  • Working with different types of glass products.
  • Reading and interpreting drawings and production orders.
  • Glass handling and quality control processes.
