Overview

The Directorate of Logistical Services within the Department of Transport at Pretoria Campus is seeking to fill four permanent Driver positions. The primary role of the driver is to provide safe and reliable transportation services for students and staff. We are looking for dedicated individuals with a strong sense of responsibility, good communication skills, and a commitment to adhering to road safety regulations.


Responsibilities

Transportation: Safely transport students and staff for academic and operational purposes.

Vehicle Inspection: Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness.

Incident Reporting: Report any accidents or incidents to the Transport Officer promptly.

Client Service: Provide excellent customer service, ensuring good communication with passengers.

Safe Driving: Maintain high standards of safe driving at all times, adhering to road traffic regulations.

Reporting Defects: Report any vehicle defects or required maintenance, including minor on-the-spot repairs when necessary.


Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Basic literacy (ABET) or Grade 9.

Experience

  • At least two years of relevant driving experience.

Professional Registration

  • Valid EC (Code 14) Driver’s License with a Public Driving Permit (PDP).

Knowledge and Skills

  • In-depth understanding of current road traffic rules and regulations, particularly those pertaining to public driving.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle inspection and maintenance.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Basic mechanical understanding for minor vehicle repairs.
