Overview: Unitrans is seeking professional and experienced Bus Drivers to join our Personnel Transport division on a temporary, casual hire basis. The successful candidates will be responsible for safely transporting passengers on scheduled services across established routes. This role requires strict adherence to traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies to ensure the timely and secure arrival of passengers at their destinations. The position is based in Worcester, Western Cape, and is a part of our Mega Bus division.
Responsibilities:
-Safely operate a bus to transport passengers along designated routes, ensuring adherence to prescribed speeds, traffic laws, and safety protocols.
-Manage the comfort of passengers by controlling lighting, heating, and ventilation within the bus.
-Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, reporting any deviations or malfunctions to the supervisor.
-Accurately complete and maintain logbooks, including recording hours and documenting all incidents, accidents, or other relevant events during trips.
- Ensure the bus is refueled and kept clean at all times.
- Register passengers at the start of each trip and ensure their safe arrival at destinations.
- Adhere to company rules, including avoiding unauthorized route deviations and making stops only at company-approved locations.
- Participate in regular training sessions and safety meetings, contributing to a culture of safety and compliance within the company.
- Report any near misses, incidents, or property damage immediately to management.
- Uphold a positive attitude towards passengers and provide excellent customer service throughout each journey.
Requirements:
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) and job-specific training.
- Licenses: Valid code 10 driver’s license with PDP
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a similar position, with proven expertise in defensive and preventive driving techniques.

- Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance and report any issues promptly.
- Familiarity with Unitrans passenger rules and regulations, and a strong understanding of the importance of compliance with company policies and procedures.
