Overview: Unitrans is looking for experienced and safety-conscious Petroleum Tanker Drivers to join our team at various locations, including Langlaagte, Waltloo (Pretoria), and Milnerton (Cape Town). These positions involve the transportation of petroleum products, requiring a high level of responsibility, adherence to safety protocols, and a commitment to delivering goods in a timely manner. Successful candidates will have a proven track record in the operation of tanker vehicles and the handling of hazardous materials.
Responsibilities:
-Safely operate petroleum tanker vehicles to transport fuel and other petroleum products to designated locations.
-Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring that the vehicle is in optimal working condition and reporting any defects.
-Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, traffic regulations, and company policies, especially those related to the transportation of hazardous materials.
- Ensure that the tanker is properly loaded, secured, and unloaded, preventing any spills or accidents during transport.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, recording driving hours, deliveries, and any incidents or deviations.
- Conduct regular checks on the vehicle’s fuel levels and ensure that the tanker is refueled and maintained as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service by interacting professionally with clients and ensuring timely deliveries.
Requirements:
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) and specialized training in tanker operations.
- Licenses:
- Valid code 14 driver’s license with PrDP – “D” if required to operate a DG vehicle.
- Relevant certifications and endorsements for the transportation of hazardous materials.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in operating petroleum tanker vehicles.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of safety regulations related to hazardous materials transportation.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on defensive and preventive driving techniques.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance and handle emergency situations.
- Professional demeanor and strong communication skills.
