Overview

Senqu Local Municipality invites suitably qualified and community-minded applicants to fill two Ward Committee Clerk vacancies—one post per ward (Ward 9 and Ward 13). The clerks will provide secretariat and administrative support to the Ward Councillor and ensure effective ward functionality, community liaison and customer care referral.

Key Responsibilities

-Provide full secretariat support for ward committees and meetings: circulate approved calendars, issue notices, arrange venues, prepare agendas for Councillor approval, take minutes and ensure safe record-keeping.

-Liaise with the Public Participation Office on support needs and report on ward functionality.

-Ensure wards have the required tools of trade (including report templates).

-Collect and consolidate reports from ward committees for Councillor approval.

-Report non-cooperating ward committee members to the Councillor/Public Participation Office for intervention.

-Advise committees about meetings and training arranged by the Municipality and ensure logistics are in place and attended.

-Assist communities to log complaints and redirect to Municipal Customer Care.

-Support the Amenities section: oversee day-to-day operation of community facilities (halls, sports fields, cemeteries), control keys, and report damages/vandalism or maintenance needs to the Supervisor: Amenities.

Requirements & Skills

Minimum education: Grade 11.

Added advantage: Demonstrated involvement/experience in community structures.

-Strong administration, meeting coordination and minute-taking ability.

-Clear, respectful communication with diverse community stakeholders.

-Organised, reliable and able to manage documents and deadlines.

Residency: Only applicants residing within Senqu’s area of jurisdiction and in the specific ward they are applying for will be considered.

Remuneration & Benefits

  • Stipend: R4,200 per month.
  • Fixed-term appointment linked to the 2021/26 Council term (not permanent).
