Overview
The Western Cape Blood Service is seeking a dedicated Donor Attendant/Driver to join our Transport Department in George on a full-time, permanent basis. We are looking for an experienced driver with a Code EC1 or EC license, who is passionate about providing excellent customer service and can handle multiple tasks, including the physical demands of the role.
Purpose of the Job
The Donor Attendant/Driver plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our blood donor clinics by:
-Assisting in the transportation and setup of clinic equipment at various locations.
-Helping with the assembly and disassembly of the clinic setup.
-Interacting with donors, preparing them for donation, monitoring them during the process, and managing any adverse reactions.
-Safely transporting staff and equipment to and from clinics.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure efficient and safe transportation of clinic equipment and staff to various venues.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of clinic equipment at each location.
- Provide friendly and professional customer service to donors, ensuring a positive experience.
- Accurately collect data and maintain detailed records.
- Monitor donors during the donation process and manage any adverse reactions.
Requirements
- Matric Certificate.
- A valid Code EC1 or EC driver’s license without endorsements, and a Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) with at least 3 years of driving experience.
- Willingness to relocate to the George area.
- Basic computer skills (a relevant course is advantageous).
- Previous experience in a customer service role is essential.
- Physically fit and able to lift and move heavy clinic equipment.
- Excellent communication skills, a friendly disposition, and the ability to work well within a team.
- First Aid Qualification (advantageous).
- Flexibility to work variable hours, including shift work, weekends, and call-outs.
