Overview

Pick n Pay is recruiting over 20 enthusiastic and hardworking General Workers to support our Bakery Departments across stores nationwide. This hands-on role is essential in maintaining high standards of freshness, hygiene, and service in the bakery area.

Key Responsibilities

-Assist with preparation of baked goods (mixing, shaping, packaging)

-Maintain a clean and hygienic bakery area, including surfaces, ovens, and equipment

-Refill bakery shelves and ensure appealing product displays

-Rotate and monitor expiry dates on all bakery items

-Follow food safety and baking protocols

-Operate and clean bakery equipment safely according to standard operating procedures

-Check product quality and report any issues to supervisors

-Provide friendly assistance to customers with bakery product queries

-Adhere to safety, housekeeping, and cold chain (where applicable) guidelines

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 10 (Grade 12 advantageous)
• Ability to work with food products and equipment safely
• Willingness to work flexible retail hours, including weekends and public holidays
• Physically fit and able to stand for long periods
• Prior bakery or food service experience is beneficial
