Overview

The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) is recruiting 200 entry-level Metro Police Trainees and invites applications from young, energetic, physically and mentally fit individuals dedicated to public safety and policing. This is a unique opportunity to join the City’s law enforcement team and undergo training to become a qualified metro police officer.

Job Purpose

To equip candidates with the necessary skills, discipline, and training to uphold and enforce municipal by-laws, prevent crime, and apply the National Road Traffic Act within the City of Tshwane.

Primary Functions

Successful candidates will serve as functional metro police officials performing one or more of the following:

  • Traffic policing in accordance with road traffic legislation
  • Policing of municipal by-laws and regulations
  • Crime prevention duties across various city regions

Minimum Requirements

-Grade 12 (Matric) certificate (documentary proof required)

-Valid driverโ€™s license for manual transmission vehicles

-Must pass a departmental driving test

-No criminal record or pending criminal cases (fingerprints will be taken)

-Must not appear on the register of sexual or child offenders

-Must not have been dismissed from government employment due to misconduct

-Must be a South African citizen and resident of the City of Tshwane (proof of residence and affidavit required)

-Age: 18 to 35 years

-Medically fit and able to do strenuous physical activity (medical certificate required)

-Pass physical fitness and psychometric assessments

-Proficiency in English (assessment required)

-Must not be declared incompetent to possess a firearm

-No visible tattoos while wearing uniform

-Willingness to sign the TMPD Code of Conduct
