Overview
Pick n Pay is hiring over 20 dedicated and safety-conscious General Workers to support our Butchery Departments across stores nationwide. This role is key in maintaining cleanliness, supporting butchers, and ensuring customer satisfaction in our fresh meat section.
Key Responsibilities
-Assist butchers with preparation, packing, and presentation of meat products
-Maintain hygiene and cleanliness of tools, equipment, and work surfaces
-Rotate and replenish meat displays according to FIFO (first in, first out) principles
-Ensure compliance with food safety and cold chain standards
-Handle meat products with care to avoid shrinkage and waste
-Package, label, and store meat correctly
-Provide friendly service to customers with product-related enquiries
-Dispose of waste according to health and safety regulations
-Follow all safety and sanitisation protocols consistently
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 (Grade 12 advantageous)
- Ability to work in cold environments
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy items
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
- Previous experience in butchery or food handling is an advantage
